About Ismail Jaber

Volunteers of People Receiving Assistance in Social and Spiritual (PRAISSE) visited the Philemon House in March 2025 to deliver Job Placement Services. There, we met Ismail Jaber. He was sentenced to life in prison but was released on parole after 35 years for good behavior. He moved into the Philemon House in May 2024 and had been unsuccessful in finding full-time steady work for nearly a year.

PRAISSE volunteers met with him to address his obstacles, checked his references, and placed him at the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport as a Transporter in April 2025. Ismail escorts wheelchair-bound travelers from the ticket counter to the gate or anywhere within the airport they wish. He credits the Lord Jesus Christ and the effort of PRAISSE for this opportunity.

Ismail’s success embodies the mission of PRAISSE. We engage job seekers, many of whom face the same challenges as Ismail; we meet with them one-on-one; we listen to their challenges, seek the Holy Spirit for their needs, and match them with employment opportunities.

This service of PRAISSE has proven to be an effective means of evangelism to provide hope, pray individually, and witness the power of God manifested when people are feeling most vulnerable.
